and the bad news is
This clown hired to replace the fired head of Walter Reed. Possibly even worse than his predecessor. Reading this article at AmericaBlog, one has to wonder why the outraged (Republican) senator and his wife didn't notify the press? Make this public? If Rep. Bill Young and his wife, Beverly, "stopped visiting the wounded at Walter Reed out of frustration," did they just toddle off to their happy little lives and forget about these people?
In 2004, Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.) and his wife stopped visiting the wounded at Walter Reed out of frustration. Young said he voiced concerns to commanders over troubling incidents he witnessed but was rebuffed or ignored. "When Bev or I would bring problems to the attention of authorities of Walter Reed, we were made to feel very uncomfortable," said Young, who began visiting the wounded recuperating at other facilities.
Beverly Young said she complained to Kiley several times. She once visited a soldier who was lying in urine on his mattress pad in the hospital. When a nurse ignored her, Young said, "I went flying down to Kevin Kiley's office again, and got nowhere. He has skirted this stuff for five years and blamed everyone else."
I'm still in need of coffee, but this just makes me furious. Oh yeah, 2004, Republican representative. That makes sense.

"We, like, complained and stuff, but nothing was done, so we like walked away from it. Bill was so bothered by it, that he said a silent prayer for the wounded, while playing the back nine at our club, and I was so upset, I just had to go shopping!" Wow! I wonder what actions they would take if their Central American housekeeper used too much starch on their shirts, or broke an expensive vase? Think they would fire her and replace her with someone more "competent"?
When does the folly end? They knew about this for three years, and this is all they have accomplished? Why, oh why can't we just wipe the slate clean and elect a brand new Congress?
i've had a couple of cups now, but i'm afraid i'm not a lot cheerier. just read that bush's approval rating has fallen to 29%.
so how the hell do we the people change things? i had high hopes for a new congress, but things sure seem to be moving slowly.
subpoenas have been issued . . . about the firing of the justice department attorneys. when do we get subpoenas related to the whole fucking iraq debacle? those are the subpoenas i want to see. i want this shit ~ this nightmare of an administration ~ on record.
more coffee. more.
I think they are finally desensitized to it all. Sad. Really sad.
