5 days

I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. This urge to travel is such a shocker. I think because I refused to fly before last November, I didn't even let myself think about it. Now the world is wide open and it's almost too exciting. Five more days.

It's funny -- growing up on a series of military bases, my family moved every two or three years, and I attended three different high schools. We always took the opportunity to take "small trips" that we'd never be able to take again -- when in Scotland, we saw Norway; when in Japan, we saw Hong Kong.

As a result, I feel very well-traveled, and travel has lost ALL of its allure!

Seems like we've taken the reverse journey! Where are you going in five days? What's on the agenda? Have a splendorific time!!

south padre island. beach is on the agenda. maybe a little kayaking. wildlife preserve. hiking. seafood. yum.

i don't know that i'd have wanted to get around that much as a kid. liked the same house, same school, etc. but now . . . bar the door. :-)

Lynette - time to travel. Its a big wonderful world out there - I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see so much of it - and by the way I worked for an airline for 33 years and I'm terrified of flying.

I hope this is just the start of you seeing the world and more important the world seeing you.

Only four more sleep overs mom!

Have fun on your trip and take a picture of the beach and other sites if you can! Love to see the pics.

OMG girl, green with envy here! Sounds just wonderful -- good for you! I've moved a lot during my life, and still love to travel. Don't have the funds for it these days though. Soak up some of that sun for me.

Was it a fear of flying that kept you out of the air before last November? How'd you get over it? Or did you just get a prescription...?
In any case, bonne vacance :-)

tank ~ it wasn't fear. it was abject stark raving terror ;-)

flew a lot as a child, no problem. used to take the conoco plane from ponca city to houston as a teenager. coming back, last time i flew, we went through a thunderstorm. plane was rocking, lightning striking, so very frightening in that little 12 seat jet.

i sat up front with the pilots, finally, because i was hysterical. that helped ~ to be able to see out the front, where we were going. but i resigned flying after that and yea, valium :-) it's a miracle drug . . . and thank you! bonne vacance :-)
