I've always had a place in my heart for pink Flamingos...
Ahhhhhh! Isn't this just sweet! Some uplifting news amongst all the crap!
To help to distract you, just a little bit Lynette, here's the recipe for the apple shortcake my mother makes (she also makes HEAPS of other goodies!!)
6ozs plain flour
2ozs butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking powder
half cup sugar
pinch of salt
this is the shortcake
Apple filling:
She usually uses a cooking apple such as Ballarat, Peas Good Nonsuch (yes this really is an apple variety!)or Granny Smith. They need to be cooked till just soft and not too moist with the addition of a good amount of cinnamon.
Mix all the shortcake ingredients together into a dough and rollout to about a 3mm(1/16inch?) thickness and line the bottom of a baking dish. She uses a pyrex dish so she can check that the bottom has cooked!!
Fill with apple. Cover top with shortcake.Bake in 375F till cooked.
EAT!
There's no premixed packets of cake or biscuit mix for her! Everything has always been seperate ingredients!! I remember as a little boy watching her mix things BY HAND! and often getting the mixing bowl to 'lick out' (well with a finger or spatula!)

There are so many hilarious bits in that story I don't know where to start. I almost didn't click on the link because I thought, "Oh, like I CARE about seeing some Flickr picture of Lynette's gay Mexican friends' adopted baby..."
I love this: The couple, together for six years, can feed chicks by producing milk in their throats -- they make it sound like that's some special thing, as if the female flamingos nurse their young or something. I'm assuming that's how ALL flamingos feed the chicks, not just this couple.
Anyway, I'm having fun imagining the right-wingnuts will latch onto the bit about them having a history of chasing other parents off the nest and trying to steal their eggs:
SEE, those pedophile, pervert, evil GAY flamingos are trying to tear asunder the NORMAL flamingo families and trying to PRETEND to have families and children of their own... children that they want to raise to follow into their EVIL GAY FLAMINGO lifestyle, all fluffy, and, and, and.... PINK!!! Pray for their immoral gay flamingo souls and that poor, innocent baby chick!"

Not sure what's happening but I was sure I had posted a comment - though maybe not.... should have applied for CPP earlier I guess - anyway I was wonder what the RR and fundies could do with this and Joe answered my question.

Oh that is too funny! I sure needed this after a tree limb landed on my car this week and I've been busy fighting with the asshole's insurance company.
