former head of china's FDA sentenced to death

Seems a little harsh, as the charges were corruption and accepting bribes. I guess it wouldn't seem harsh to the folks whose kids died from ethylene glycol poisoning.

Laurent has been told that the standard execution in China is done in the following manner:

A bullet through the back of the head.
Prior to the excutive the person is bound and forced to their knees.
They are advised to stay still and open their mouth so that the bullet will have an exit and there will be some semblance of a face for your family to identify.
Your family has to pay the state for the bullet when they reclaim your body.

As an method of execution it is no more barbaric than the needle, the noose or the axe but somehow it's that last item that bothers me.

The overeducated redneck and I just returned from a few weeks in China on business and vacation.

Old pre-Olympic China had the bullet method.

The new Olympic China has a new method, a fleet of execution vans:

It is the same barbaric method used in Texas, just mobile, and they harvest the organs first. China has organ transplant physicians standing by so they can harvest organs for the party elite and sale on the "donated" organ black market. Then they kill the patient, um, er, prisoner.
