hearts and penises

Little pink hearts throwing out little pink and white penises. Sweet, yes? So much of sex in the garden. It seems the Creator had a one track mind.

Don'cha just love bleeding hearts. My little ones that are related to the wild variety are already starting to fade but the big hybrid one like the picture are just starting to come out. The nice thing about the woodland varieties though is that they repeat bloom.

I was just having a talk this morning about plant sex with Monkey, and I was explaining to him that his holly wasn't producing berries because it's not getting laid. It's true!

Hi...me again. Anonymous. I'd say let's just have an affair, but alas, we are both married. Then there's that other small detail...dammit, dammit, dammit. I guess I'll just have to be content with looking at those gorgeous lips. Oh my...those lips. Sigh.

Nature is fecund, no doubt about it. Just love those little pistils and stamens. Or innies and outies, as my momma says.

I love Bleeding Hearts! But I'm not sure if it's cause I'm a liberal or for the penises. Probably the latter.

Oh I have Garden Penises too! And I'm damn lucky to have them. When we moved in last fall, that corner of the yard was an overgrown mess -- i really cleaned it out, but alas, was ignorant in the ways of the Bleeding Heart. I thought they were baby maple trees trying to shade my yard even MORE, so I yanked and yanked. I can't believe any survived.

This spring, I had one little branch, and a delicate perfect row of the hearts -- couldn't believe it when I saw what they were.

I also have another variety which are different. I didn't rip those out for some reason.

Those peni are tenacious little buggers.
