wtf? FDA blocks food safety testing

The Food & Drug Administration ~ the agency charged with ensuring our food and medications are safe ~ is blocking a Kansas meat company's efforts to ensure its product is free of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad cow disease).

Larger meat companies feared that move because, if Creekstone should test its meat and advertised it as safe, they might have to perform the expensive tests on their larger herds as well.

The squeeky wheel always gets silenced in big government. Shit like this always starts me thinking that I should buy a farmette in Wisconsin, and raise my own food for harvest. Perhaps the hippies had it right with the notion of communal living. If I wasn't so fricking lazy, this idea might actually take root in me, but alas, I am who I am...

Thank God we get our meat from my Mennonite organic farming cousins in Kansas. They keep it in the Locker until we come visit every few months.

What government assclown decided the Kansas meatpacking business, a capitalist business in the USA, couldn't test their own product?

What is next, a China-like communist decree that we can only have one baby per family?

Good gosh. I am a capitalist, I am an engineer that now sells software. When does big business stop running our government? It is just so blatant in this administration it is shameful.

Are we really surprised by anything that happens with the Bush administration in control? Welcome to the third world. I have no idea of how or if we will ever be able to dig ourselves out of all this. I do know nothing will happen until the people of this country wake up and start demanding some accountability from our leaders.
