impeach dick cheney now

Vice Thug Cheney says he's not a part of the Executive Branch of our federal government and thus is exempt from public scrutiny. It is late, and it's possible I'm confused, but I'm fairly certain the Constitution places the offices of President and Vice President squarely in the Executive Branch. I think I learned that in 3d grade.

But hey, since Thuggish Dick says he's not a part of it, let's boot the arrogant bastard out! Put him on the street, do it now. I suspect the vast majority of the blame for the disaster in Iraq, for the rampant thieving of the war profiteers, for the plan to attack Iran and so many more disastrous decisions and foreign policy debacles lies squarely at the feet of Dick Cheney, master puppeteer of George W. Bush.

Congressman Henry Waxman's office has put together a document detailing this man's refusal to comply with the laws of this nation, with the policies of the federal government of which he is a part. He insists, though, that that the rules don't apply to him and after repeated efforts to gain his cooperation in safeguarding classified national security information, the National Archives referred the matter to the Justice Department. You know, the one headed by Alberto Gonzalez, criminal-in-chief, and staffed by idiots and fools from a right wing 4th rate law school. Not surprisingly, Gonzalez did nothing.

It's ironic, really, because one thing I've noticed generally about the far right Rethugs is that they tend to be very rule oriented, very stringent about requiring adherance to standards, guidelines and the like. (That's one of the screeching points on immigration: They are here illegally!!!!) But when it comes to Dick Cheney, the rules simply don't apply. That is outrageous, infuriating and wrong. Impeachment seems the only option for one so dismissive of law, of the Constitution, of the American people.

I saw this last night on Anderson Cooper 360. It made me want to puke. I was too tired to stay up and blog about it, and I said to myself "lynette will post about this tomorrow". Thank you for being consistant and persistant ma Belle.

I am so mad at this asshole and his hijacking of our government that I want to scream (and do, quite frequently according to Jim). This nonsense is all about him wanting to keep his secrets secret. If I were robbing the country blind, flaunting the Constitution, and siezing power, I would want it all done on the hush hush as well. He is the anti christ, and the true, unelected, evil leader of this country. This administration has the temerity to accuse Putin of creating a totalitarian state, when they have already set in motion the same plan here? It's past time for impeachment of this whole band of thieves and liars. It's time for their heads in a noose for high treason.

The man is a thief, a criminal, and a liar, which is a perfect profile for what passes for a politician in the Bush administration these days.

Tater, thanks for the correction in a previous post. My brain had a mind fart and I got my terminology confused.

Oh, and Lynnette, you Bush meter must be out of whack. It isn't ticking fast enough. I can't believe we still have to put up 577 days with these jokers.

it's unbearable, isn't it? the thought of 577 days?

i honestly thought i had heard it all with these shameful cretins. but this . . . how could we possible allow someone so dismissive of the Constitution to remain as second to the most powerful office in our government?

i know i am given to hyperbole and, possibly, a touch of hysteria on these matters (but if you're not a little hysterical by this point, you're not paying attention, just my opinion), but this one just knocked the wind out of me. the unspeakable arrogance of it is intolerable.

Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, Jeff -- it truly tolls for thee.

I heard about this on my local progressive talk radio station this morning (all that yelling makes for a good radio alarm to get me out of bed in the morning), so I'm at least happy to hear that the "mainstream media" is doing something with this story. Although it's clear that they won't do nearly enough.

More than Cheney's arrogance and criminal thuggery, what's really infuriating is my perceived powerlessness to do anything about it. Other than scream to the converted on my blog, what's to do but wait it out? For five hundred and seventy-seven days. Fuck ...

Dick Cheney needs to be arrested and keelhauled, then take a rendition flight to one of Bushliburton's overseas prisons.

Keith Olbermann's solution is to "invade" Cheney: http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?f=00&g=c66ceac9-92cf-443d-b577-e30a6500f5bc&p=Source_Countdown&t=c1149

I actually heard this story on NPR on Friday morning, which gave me a little hope. Now the question is, why aren't more people jumping up and down in righteous indignation? Even I'm sort of ho-hum-what-did-you-expect about it, and I should be boiling mad.

Last night - June 24 - the Fifth Estate - a respect news journal here on our National TV ran a story called: The Lies That Led to War.

As I watched it I thought of you and at the risk of upsetting you more - and honestly lynette that's not something I want to do - it may be interesting to see an outsiders view of the situation with the White House, the Media and the War.

http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/lies/

It is possible to watch the documentary in streaming. I was shocked though not surprised by some of the things I heard and saw.

And why do I want to smash that cow Anne Coulter in the face when she says things like: Don't you get newspapers up here in Canada? Yes we do Anne and they aren't controlled by your current Administration whic may mean they tell a different story.

It's funny. During his first term in order to keep from revealing the names of the people at his secretive energy meeting he claimed "Executive Priviledge."

While I am a woman of legendary patience, and not one prone to violence- I vote we shoot the bastard and have the war crimes trial posthumously.

While we're at it, the entire damn administration needs to be hauled to the Hague for trial. Is this not what the International Tribunal was established for? because as far as I'm concerned, this lot is just as bloody guilty of crimes against humanity as any other repressive regime in recent history.

I'm with you, doralong: everyone in the administration who is responsible for starting a war based on lies is responsible for the possibly half-million civilian deaths (though we don't know the exact number because we don't count them) in Iraq and should clearly be charged with crimes against humanity. This actually seems like a more realistic possibility than impeachment.

Eric- as you so rightly pointed out- no blow job involved, thus no impeachment.

But in reality, and all kidding aside- While I may not be the great legal mind of the century; is this administration not as guilty of atrocity as nearly any other that has been brought before the tribunal for war crimes recently? The swath of destruction and the lives and families destroyed in "collateral" damage - both here and there- would seem to me to warrant the deepest outrage of the entire global community.

I deeply love my country, and like to hope for the basic decent instincts of all humans- but my government frankly scares the shit out of me. The amoral have no decent instincts.

And as others have noted- Miss Belle, you OK? Daddy alright? Drop a line so we all don't have to fret about it.
