ouch! part II

Miserable toes. They're constantly aching, burning, throbbing, sending shooting pains up my legs. Everyone I meet says "well I lost a toenail and it didn't hurt." The difference, I assume, is when you lose a toenail it's ready to come off and doesn't have to be pried up from the nail bed. Doctor says "okay, leave the bandaids off at night," which feels exactly as I imagine it would feel if someone were lightly sanding my eyeballs. Wish I'd never done this. Still can't wear shoes. Haven't worked out in over a week. Boo hoo hoo.

Hey, sweetie! I feel your pain!I can still remember the THROBBING before the nail bed was surgically removed from my big toe. I remember having to sit with my leg elevated for days at a time!!

Deeep breathes and mind block the pain!

Big hugs,

BJ.

I musta missed something, and don't understand. Why did you pry out your toenail, exactly?

When my big toe nail was ripped off in an accident, I had to wear open toed sandals all summer long. Nothing could touch that exposed nail bed. I slept with my foot sticking out of the sheet.

I wish the doctor or nurse has been up front with you about the pain. So sorry you are going through this discomfort.

Sending cooling thoughts of relief to your iddle piddy. Maybe you can Google some suggestions for ways to manage the pain and discomfort. Can you do sit ups or some upper body work to help you feel better about not getting exercise? I know how frustrating that can be.

I had my toe crushed years ago and lost the nail. Every time you mention your toes the hair stands up on the back of my neck. (yes, that's about the only hair left above the shoulders)

I really feel for you and hope the nail bed toughens up a bit soon. That should offer some relief until the nail grows back. Maybe the prosthetic nails would help?

Poor baby. I was in enough pain the time I dropped a pot on my big toe. And that was just a blood blister under the nail. Well, okay, I broke the toe as well. But still, this sounds much worse. I'm gonna look for steel toed sandals for the summer.

Oh, poor you! Injured nails are excruciating. Can they give you anything topical that will numb it a bit? I'd be tempted to go buy some Anbesol or something.
