and the good friday news is . . .

The ultra-conservative Economist diagnosing the Ship of Rethug as one full of holes. Excellent. I am rejoicing.

And also pondering the nature of Rudy Giuliani's potty training, as I can't imagine anything else which would cause him to make a statement such as this one, from a 1994 speech:

"Freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do."

Can we have a do-over on this boy's childhood? Where does this kind of garbage come from? Thank God there's this magnificent opus from the gays dead set on keeping Giuliani out office. This will be running almost nonstop in the south to alert any far right Christianists (as opposed to real Christians) who think Rudy's their guy that . . . well, maybe he's not.

Rudy is SUCH a friggin Tool BaB..seriously..if he is the best the Rethugs can do..we are either gonna beat his ass easily or we are all doomed if the masses fall for his shtick.

off topic..I bestowed a small blogger-type award on you today. I know I don't come by much..but I heart you and your words :)

I'm convinced Rudy's mamma dropped him on his head when he was a baby..

More than once it appears.

Is anyone else distracting by Rudy's lithp? I usually don't in for blatant stereotypes about my people, but everytime Rudy talks ...

"She crazy."

romney won the completely bogus straw poll in iowa yesterday, but rudy didn't even participate. i fear that the administration is going to allow another terrorist attack to rally the wingnuts to support another rethug; in that case, rudy, with his bogus tough on terrorists stance, might stand a chance.

otherwise, it just seems like this guy is the anti-rethug in terms of their family values voters and so we would be safe from him.

and safe is what we need to be: this guy is scary as hell. temper tantrums, authoritarian, ego out of control, no ethics or integrity. um . . . that's sounding frighteningly familiar.

Just noting that I'd hesitate to call The Economist "ultra-conservative." I find it fairly evenhanded and think it has really comprehensive coverage of world events we don't even hear about here. It's my favorite air-travel reading material.
