what. the. fuck.

Toxic shrimp, melamine in cat food, tainted fish passed off as good, lead paint on childrens' toys and now this?? Toy beads coated with GHB?

Scientists said when the beads are ingested, a chemical coating metabolises into the so-called date rape drug gamma hydroxy butyrate, which can induce unconsciousness, seizures, drowsiness, coma and death.

China is trying to kill us.

No Chinese products period.

If you want to truly understand moral bankruptcy, swing over to you tube and take a look at a crash test of a chinese car called the Brilliance. It looks like an ordinary car but crushes like an accordion on impact.

The products are simply not safe.

Yeah, GHB covered toys? What the hell was someone thinking? Does that really save money? Fortunately, children would never stick beads in their mouths so everything should be OK.

I'm betting there were a few party boys out there who were rushing to their local toy stores to see if they had any more Spin Master Aqua Dots in stock.

Actually, I'm just guessing...

Sadly China owns us - and by us I mean the west. They hold the US debt - and watch what happens as their markets widen. At the moment they need the US (and by extension to a degree Canada et al) to purchase their products but as that need regresses... it has already started with the suggestion that they will move to convert to the EURO. You think the dollar is doing badly now, just wait until that happens. A form of war not with bullets but with money. And they have the big guns.

And just watch those big companies. Matell first made a statement about the lead in toys being a Chinese mistake. They were very quickly told unless they retracted their factories would be closed down. What did Matell do - retracted of course - it was now a design mistake made in their American head office. The rule in China is - if you want to play on our field you only say nice things about us.

We've got ourselves into a mess kids.

Oh stop your whining you big babies. What is more important, your health, safety and welfare, or big corporations making vast amounts of money by doing business with a morally bankrupt regime?

Now go out and buy some more tainted products and be grateful that you're being allowed to consume junk that you don't need and may well kill you.

I always said they'd eventually take over the world, and they wouldn't have to pull out the nukes to do it..

I think the term is "economy of scale"- we're fucked.

What we're losing by being poisoned, we're making up in volume.

Mattel actually apologized to China for "making them look bad to American consumers."!!!! it's greed that is killing us all. Most of the US is going to Walmart to get the cheapest goods possible (see "The High cost of Low Prices") and if that's our only criteria then Heaven help us because China's going to give us what we want, without regard for the costs to us or to themselves. China is also rapidly destroying their own environment, poisoning their own people, too. All so that we can have lots and lots of cheap plastic toys for our kids for Christmas. Greed. Ours and theirs.
OK, I'm taking a deep breath and stepping off the soapbox now......

all i have to say is buy local, don't drive, eat only organic food, and do your best to disconnect from mass culture. if it weren't china supplying the goods, it'd be someone else.
