lily girl

Trying to catch up here, 24 hours into having the computer back. I started at the bottom of my blogroll to see what y'all have been up to, because it seems I always start at the top and run out of time.

I read "The trials, tribulations and jaundiced observations of a gay man over 40 in the shining Metropolis of Los Angeles," otherwise known as World O' Jeff.

As a result, I started bawling and had to quit reading. Blame him. But not really, because Jeff's Lily Girl was completely unexpected and so full of love and emotion and heartbreak that it's still making me weep as I write this. Jeff's tribute to his mother.

Lynette - its so good to have you back - my heart gave a jump when I saw your comments on my blog. It was a relief and a joy to hear from you.

I read Jeff's lovely and loving tribute - I hadn't looked at his blog in a while.

Hope you, Mike and the pups are doing okay and recovering from the storm.

hey honey, thanks for the welcome back. i was delighted to catch up with you this morning, after last night's encounter with Jeff. that was so lovely. i am constantly amazed by the quality of writing just appearing here and there on blogs all around the world. it's encouraging for so many reasons, but it is wonderful in the way we're able to make connections with one another in an increasingly disconnected world. jeff's story really touched my heart.

we are well. still no power at the shop and the warehouse is dark. still with the fucking deer lanterns and the propane heater. have a load of furniture coming in today after sitting in a trailer since friday before last. don't know how we'll get it put away in the dark, but at least the sun is shining.

i have GOT to get out of bitching mode. :-)

Thanks so much for your lovely post. It was so very touching.

I have received so many kind comments, emails and even letters from people. It has been so affirming.

You rock!

david, the news on your mom sounds good. i'm keeping my fingers crossed in between bouts of clasped hands ;-)

jeff ~ i have been thinking about your post all day. your words had such a poignancy and the window into your mother's life was so moving. thank you for that. she was a lucky woman to have such a son.

Between Alto and Tater and Jeff, I'm just beside myself this morning. And yet, weirdly happy. It's just amazing how much love exists in this sad, sorry world sometimes, y'know?
