barack obama's baby mama

Seriously. But we haven't got any racial issues in this country. Move along now, nothing to see here. Hat tip to Salon.

Michelle Malkin nauseates me.. How obnoxious! Like they'd refer to McCain's wife in such a rude manner? It's going to be a long, mud slinging summer and fall folks.

This seems like a knee-jerk reaction to me. I had no idea the phrase even ever had any racial connotations to it. Language evolves. Phrases and their meanings change. It's pretty clear from pop culture that that's the case here. Fox was dumb to use it, of course, but overreaction is just as bad considering:

-Michelle Obama herself who referred to Barack as her “baby’s daddy” and has used the phrase “baby daddy” to describe Barack while on the stump this year. (Senate victory speech, Nov. 2, 2004)

-The Oxford English Dictionary defines baby-daddy as “the father of a woman’s child, who is not her husband or (in most cases) her current or exclusive partner.” The baby-mama entry follows the same template with the genders reversed.

-Online, you can buy “Jesus is my baby-daddy” magnets, tote bags, and beer steins. Scott Hoffman, the bassist for the glam rock band the Scissors Sisters, goes by the stage name “Babydaddy.” Baby-mama has even made inroads in Japan, where it’s being used on a Web site that appears to sell strollers. (Michelle Malkin, "We're going to hell")

I think the first one is what confuses me the most. If Michelle Obama uses the phrase herself to refer to her own family, how can it be offensive?

Look, all I'm saying is that Obama will not win if this is the political game we start playing. We will win if we stick to what really matters: finding common ground, changing the political landscape and making people believe in hope, not fear.

The rightwing section of the Republican party has managed, up until Nov 06, to bullshit the moderate voters by using lies, innuendo and half-truths during all the elections.

I hope that the voters have wised-up to the tactics used by the extreme rightwing scumbags of the Rethuglican party..but I never discount the bastards.

lying guests on Fox? NO?
What is it that malkin does not get. If she paid less attention to make up and hair she would be right in the trenches of facing minority issues head on. I do not get her denial of self. That Malkin is a disgrace. Frankly, her hype is worthless rant to most people. Thankfully.

"What is it that Malkin does not get"

That's the money question isn't it? But then again you are talking about the Asian American woman who wrote a book on her support for the internment of Japanese Americans in the second world war.
