As a fellow Middle American, let me step up and say this: if you believe that Obama is a Muslim, unpatriotic, a terrorist, not born in America, any of the various rumors floating around about him, you are an ignorant, bigoted asshole giving in to the worst temptations of society - no matter how coddled you are by people unwilling to offend you lest they seem like the sort of elitist who doesn’t obsess over whether or not Negroes with funny names are going to kill you in your sleep. Facts don’t seem to work, so I’m more than willing to try abject shame for your unrepentant dumbassery.

People who spread false, nasty things about Obama are idiotic. The same applies to those who do so about McCain. They are both good men. And just for good measure, here is an article about McCain's character. Agree with him or not, he is truly a good man who has done good things:

I'm sure he's a good man and he's certainly done some good things. But he's far from capable of running this country. He's not thoughtful enough or sufficiently versed on the issues, he has a history of conspiring with lobbyists and business to meet their needs, without regard to the needs of the country. He has a wretched temper that I'm not confident he can control.
Based on his dealings over the years ~ persistently, unchecked ~ with lobbyists, I believe his much vaunted "character" is pretty suspect. He is a hawk, though, so it's no surprise that he's drawn the approval of a right wing Israeli newspaper.
I get one of these Obama-is-the-devil spam emails at least once a day. The next one is how saintly McCain is. I always think for both kinds, "what dumbass wrote this, and why did this dumbass bother to forward it??" Sheesh. Trouble is, the Obama-hate spam is probably an epidemic, and people actually believe that crap. Kinda like Microsoft will send you $15 if you forward an email after you add your name and address to the bottom of the list. This country suffers from a long-term brain drought.
I disagree that McCain isn't capable of running the country. He's probably the only candidate in my lifetime that is actually completely qualified to be president. Shame I don't agree with him on most issues, because otherwise he does seem like a very good man.
completely qualified on what basis? he can't even keep his countries straight. he'll be george bush x 2, the man who invaded iraq without knowing the difference between sunni and shia.
