I think he neglected to mention the millions of able bodied people in prison, that given opportunity, education, health care,and hope as children (with adequately funded programs, helped in part by "compassionate conservative giving") would love to hold their heads up and contribute to a society that supported their efforts. Unfortunately, they were mostly born into poverty, to parents that did not have the ability or capacity to provide them with a decent education, prospects of a promising future, or the free time to spend nurturing them into responsible adulthood. It is so much easier to make blanket statements from a place of moral superiority, than to do the hard work of thinking an issue through, looking for a solution, and capitalizing that solution so it bears fruit. Until I see Tom delay volunteering as a mentor, adopting unwanted children and nurturing them, trying to pass legislation for a decent working wage, and striving for a decent public health care system, I thumb my nose at him and his ilk. Instead he is busy creating sweetheart deals for him and his motley crew to enrich themselves, creating red herrings like immigration to further inflame a divided electorate, all the while pandering to the vilest of human nature such as racism and greed to secure himself a position to grab power. FUCK OFF TOM.
