well fuck mark sanford

Okay. I was wrong. Forget this asshat, he's just like the rest of them. Nothing special in his love affair with the Argentinian woman, just another cheating man ~ a serial cheater at that ~ caught with his hand in the cookie jar. So to speak.

I was willing to allow that he'd had a post-Clinton conversion, motivated by finding his soulmate in the romantic Argentina. I imagined him having second thoughts about his judgmental proclamations, having met up with this woman eight years ago, beginning his slo-mo affair of the heart. But now he's confessed to involvement with at least three other women, assuring us, of course, that none of those relationships involved sex. Of course not.

Despite my naivete, my hopefulness, my wish that folks were better than they are, I do know hypocrites like this one. I mostly want to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially when it comes to love. But this guy, good lord. What a tool. I expect in his version, no sex means assfucking, cocksucking, and handjobs, just none of that other thing. You know, the real sex thing.

I was wrong. I admit it. He's an asshole. Same as it ever was. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. If nothing changes, nothing changes. Nothing like a Rethug spouting the Bible while some woman's blowing him (or man, they're all about equal opportunity when it comes to cocksucking). I was wrong, so wrong. Fuck Mark Sanford.

***And Oh. My. God. If my husband stood up before the country, said Miss Argentina was his soulmate, then said he was going to "try to fall in love with his wife again?" Are you fucking kidding me? I would be so gone. Just try to find a wife to fall in love with. She's a Yankee, but she's living in the south, so she could be armed.. She ought to shoot his sorry ass.

GOP candidates bow out of minority-sponsored forums

Big surprise. And Tavis Smiley, host of the upcoming All American Presidential Forum being dissed by the top four rethugs, observes

"When you reject every black invitation and every brown invitation you receive, is that a scheduling issue or is it a pattern? I don't believe anybody should be elected president of the United States if they think along the way they can ignore people of color. That's just not the America we live in.

It's all because of scheduling conflicts, you know. The same scheduling conflicts that prevented their attending a forum for Latino voters. A rethug advisor, speaking anonymously, of course, suggests they really have nothing to gain by attending the African American forum sponsored by Smiley, saying

What's the win? Why would [the candidates] go into a crowd where they're probably going to be booed?

Yeah, what's the win in meeting with the folks you're fucking over at most every opportunity. Why meet with them?

Jack Kemp, former congressman and vice presidential candidate from New York, adds

We sound like we don't want immigration; we sound like we don't want black people to vote for us. What are we going to do -- meet in a country club in the suburbs one day? If we're going to be competitive with people of color, we've got to ask them for their vote.

Yup. That's what it sounds like alright. And I hope that this disrespectful and shameful behavior on the part of the rethug candidates gets the attention of every voter in this country. What a bunch of bozos. Big old tough guys, running full force with a hawkish foreign policy stance contrary to the majority wishes of the American people. And they're too big a bunch of babies to even meet with folks who might boo them. Oh whaaaaaaaa! Boo hoo hoo. Spineless yahoos.

the GOP's culture of corruption

As Larry Craig says, "Nasty, bad, naughty" boys. It's really something to see this year's parade of thugs and thieves all in one place. The list, courtesy Oklahoma's Doc Hoc. I'm getting that delicious sense of schadenfreude again.

it's the hypocrisy, stupid!

A rethuglican acquaintance asked me why I take such delight in the ever-increasing parade of Rethugs exposed for being child molesting public sex havin' minor seducing bribe taking cocksucking hypocrites. And that's just it. The hypocrisy.

I can't decide if it's just complete arrogance, the kind which could make them think they're simply above the law, or if it's the furtive hope that they can indulge themselves and they won't get caught this time.

Considering recently ousted bathroom sex procuring Rethug Senator Larry Craig's behavior after he was nabbed trying to get some dick at the airport, I'm going with arrogance. The police report provided at Roll Call includes this gem (hat tip to Talking Points Memo:

At one point during the interview, Craig handed the plainclothes sergeant who arrested him a business card that identified him as a U.S. Senator and said, “What do you think about that?” the report states.

Oh! Oh! Let me tell you what I think about it, Senator Craig. Me! Me! Me! I think you're a two faced liar, a dissembler, a fraud. I think you blab about family values out of one side of your mouth, while slurping up dick with the other. I think you ought to be ashamed. Not for wanting to get a little on the side, but for being a liar and a pretender and a sham. For encouraging hatred of gays while engaging in hot sweaty mansex your own self.

So yeah, it's delicious. I delight in it. I get all quivery and shivery and excited each time another one of these fools is exposed. And the minute these asshats quit yammering about other people's sex lives, I won't give one rip what they're doing in theirs. Republican Senator Larry Craig, one more shining example of Rethug family values.

how to kill an army

while blowing hot air about supporting the troops: read and weep.

When the soldiers talk like this there is resignation. There is a corrosive anger, too, that bubbles out, like the words pouring unbidden from a chaplain's assistant who has come to bless a patrol. 'Why don't you tell the truth? Why don't you journalists write that this army is exhausted?'

run andrew run!!

It's hard to miss Oklahoma's two dangerously right wing senators, Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn. The first is an outspoken critic of the concept of climate change, owing no doubt to the fact that he's wedged so tightly up the asses of big oil he can't see the destruction of the earth all around him. The second is just a loose cannon garden variety Oklahoma lunatic, who once warned against marauding lesbian school girls in southeastern Oklahoma. Our senatorial field has been tightly held by these two fools for too long.

The great good news today is that Oklahoma State Senator Andrew Rice has announced he will run against Jim Inhofe in 2008. Hallelujah!! Here's a Rice bio; he'll be blogging live on DailyKos at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Drop by and say hello to Andrew and show him some love. He's a great guy and I plan to work my ass off to get this man elected. Can you even imagine Oklahoma with an intelligent Senator? It boggles the mind. I am so excited.

can't someone make this fool go away?

Tom DeLay, adulterer, hypocrite, indicted Bush crony:

"I contend [abortion] affects you in immigration," DeLay told the Washington-area gathering. "If we had those 40 million children that were killed over the last 30 years, we wouldn't need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are doing today. Think about it."

Yeah. Think about it. Then throw up. What a jackass.

undone by gay sweaters

Poor John McCain. As his campaign swirls about the toilet for the last time before swooshing down the pipes forevermore, he blames the deterioration of his popularity on the fact of his aides making him wear "gay sweaters." Amazing, just . . . amazing.

senates moves to defund cheney's 4th branch of government

AP has the story, but Wonkette has the funny on the insanity of it all:

Now the Democrats are one step closer to making good on their threat to stop funding the Vice President’s rogue, free-floating office of no fixed branch. A Senate approps panel refused to grant Cheney’s office the $4.8 million it takes to maintain the thousands of industrial cooling units that keep the Vice President’s radioactive exoskeleton from overheating, cooking his decrepit innards like a slab of roadkill in the desert sun. Should his body temperature rise above 90 degrees, all of Northwest DC would be incinerated in the resulting firestorm. Ye gods, let the man say he’s in whatever branch of government he wants, Durbin, can’t you see there are thousands of lives on the line???

sing it, everybody

In the midst of my recovery from the cyber-attack and trying to get caught up at work, I have checked HuffingtonPost a few times to keep up with the headlines now that Congress is back in session. The news is good this morning ~ New York Times editorial calling for bringing the troops home, Justice Department lawyer telling all, Rethuglican senators defecting. The news is great.

But in the middle of all of that, when I clicked on UNDER SIEGE!, joyfully emblazoned over a photo of the chimp-in-chief, I somehow found this. It was a God thing. Sing it, pumpkins!! "The idiot son of an aaaasshole!" Sweet! And funny and right on target. Now I'll be singing this all day, but what better thing on a Monday afternoon when the tides may be turning at last?

okay

This is different. Have to figure there's a rethuglican behind it, given the recent shrillness about bands of marauding lesbians recruiting innocent young girls and attacking straight men. "National underground network of women, lesbians . . . " Not only that, but they're poor women. Oh. My. God.

raped? pregnant?

Having that baby will make you feel better. This sickens me. How dare he? And why is he not booed and hissed off the public stage? Mr. Sam Brownback of Kansas, potentially your next president:

"Rape is terrible. Rape is awful. Is it made any better by killing an innocent child? Does it solve the problem for the woman that's been raped?" the Kansas Republican asked at the St. Joseph's Covenant Keepers gathering.

"We need to protect innocent life. Period," Brownback said, bringing the crowd of about 500 to its feet.

Five hundred men rising to their feet to cheer this ass? This issue is very, very (very) personal to me. I despise this man. He has no idea what it's like to even be pregnant, let alone pregnant as the result of rape. Oh, and pumpkins? He's got a riff on gay marriage too. Pig.

CBS v. whitehouse

CBS reports on the Whitehouse picnic this way:

"You all enjoy yourself," said President Bush, who ambled out on the lawn with first lady Laura Bush to greet his guests, including many of his longtime political adversaries.

"Make sure you pick up all the trash after it's over," he joked just before Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers struck up a rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching in."

The Whitehouse website reports this:

I want to thank our Chef, Paul Prudhomme, from New Orleans, Louisiana -- one of the great chefs in America. Thanks for coming, Paul. (Applause.) I thank Tony Snow and his bunch of, well, mediocre musicians -- (laughter) -- no, great musicians. Beats Workin, thanks for coming. (Applause.) Kermit, come up here. Kermit, we're proud to have you.

MR. RUFFINS: Well, thanks for having us.

THE PRESIDENT: Kermit Ruffins and the Barbeque Swingers, right out of New Orleans, Louisiana. (Applause.)

MR. RUFFINS: Thank you. Thanks for having us. We're glad to be here.

THE PRESIDENT: Proud you're here. Thanks for coming. You all enjoy yourself. Make sure you pick up all the trash after it's over. (Laughter.)

God bless you, and may God bless America. Thanks for coming. (Applause.)

In the Whitehouse version, George Bush looks like a racist asshole, for telling the African-American musicians to "pick up all the trash after it's over." CBS's version gives it a different spin, one which puts Bush in a better light. Good grief.

bloomberg abandons rethugs, runs as independent

He hasn't been my kind of candidate, affiliating himself with the rethuglicans, but what if he's actually viable as an Independent? What if he, as The Agonist suggests, were to team up with a Democrat. Does that give anyone else a freshening of hope? I'm desperate for anyone who might be able to wrest control of our country back from the bought-and-paid-for corporate operatives masquerading as elected representatives. It's probably not him. And he's likely still a rethug at heart, just hastening now, like a long-tailed wharf rat, to abandon the sinking ship that is George Bush. I know little about him, just that NYC-living JMGers don't screech in outrage at the mention of his name; that's somewhat encouraging but clearly not enough.
