GOP candidates bow out of minority-sponsored forums
Big surprise. And Tavis Smiley, host of the upcoming All American Presidential Forum being dissed by the top four rethugs, observes
"When you reject every black invitation and every brown invitation you receive, is that a scheduling issue or is it a pattern? I don't believe anybody should be elected president of the United States if they think along the way they can ignore people of color. That's just not the America we live in.
It's all because of scheduling conflicts, you know. The same scheduling conflicts that prevented their attending a forum for Latino voters. A rethug advisor, speaking anonymously, of course, suggests they really have nothing to gain by attending the African American forum sponsored by Smiley, saying
What's the win? Why would [the candidates] go into a crowd where they're probably going to be booed?
Yeah, what's the win in meeting with the folks you're fucking over at most every opportunity. Why meet with them?
Jack Kemp, former congressman and vice presidential candidate from New York, adds
We sound like we don't want immigration; we sound like we don't want black people to vote for us. What are we going to do -- meet in a country club in the suburbs one day? If we're going to be competitive with people of color, we've got to ask them for their vote.
Yup. That's what it sounds like alright. And I hope that this disrespectful and shameful behavior on the part of the rethug candidates gets the attention of every voter in this country. What a bunch of bozos. Big old tough guys, running full force with a hawkish foreign policy stance contrary to the majority wishes of the American people. And they're too big a bunch of babies to even meet with folks who might boo them. Oh whaaaaaaaa! Boo hoo hoo. Spineless yahoos.

Right you are. Boo fucking hoo. The conservatives know no shame. They can't even PRETEND to be interested in the "the little people". How do they expect to govern when they won't even roll down their windows while driving through our neighborhoods in their gas guzzling SUV's?
At least have the courage of your convictions, and call us "fags", "niggers", "spics", "Dykes", "white trash", "gooks", and "dot heads" to our faces. Why even pretend at political correctness anymore, when its so patently obvious that you only care about the white, priviledged few in your back pockets?
Why is this not at all surprising?
A*holes is right. These thugs are spineless cowards who won't even place their genetic heritage (kids) on the line. Put your genetic money where your mouth is, and I might then respect your position a little more.
These poli-thugs are indeed a bunch of whining babies too scared to face the American people. This post has got it exactly right.
Color me terribly surprised.. NOT! Of course they don't wish to face the people that are the angriest and most disenfranchised. That might actually provoke something crazy- like one of these assholes perhaps thinking for themselves for a change.
Hence the reason the Moron-in-Chief has an actual handbook for public appearances to keep the dissenters and riffraff away from public (and his) view.. That way he can keep his fingers in his ears and keep repeating "ME,ME,ME,ME,ME"
i am convinced that, at the very ugly, inner core of it all, most hard core do or die rethugs are racists. this just confirms it for me.
I would agree, but think there is a hella dose of "classist" or elitism in there as well!
you're right, taterbug. i think theyjust hate anyone who doesn't breathe the rarefied air they do. fuckers.
i guess i'm classist too. i hate the rich, at least like these fuckers. makes me think of that old Motorhead tune:
Come on baby, eat the rich,
Put the bite on the son of a bitch,
Don't mess around, don't give me no switch,
C'mon baby eat the rich
of course they did end up with come on, bite my bone, so may not have been talking about the mitt romneys of the world ;-)
Their values are completely abhorrent and unAmerican, and yet I'd give them the teensiest bit of respect if they'd just be honest about why they're rejecting these voters out-of-hand, rather than allowing the truth to come out via an anonymous source who will surely lose his/her job if s/he is ever discovered. Shameless.
I just hope that all of this will be remembered by the public and the minority voters come election time. The appalling short-term memory of the public sadly crosses gender, race, and religion lines.
This is yet another reminder that we are living in the glorious ressurection of the Gilded Age, where old white robber-barons eat multi-course meals in one of many homes, own sweatshops and poorly-maintained factories that manufacture dangerous (but highly profitable) products to a burgeoning and under-educated lower class, and whose immense wealth dictates our domestic and foreign policies ("Remember the Maine!").
Too bad the Republican party has no one resembling Teddy Roosevelt. And too bad for us, as well.
Not entirely off topic, but perhaps indicative of the focus of the Republican party... or maybe just another in a long line of really, really stupid statements by our clueless chimp:
"In a speech defending his administration's Iraq policy, Bush said former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's brutality had made it impossible for a unifying leader to emerge and stop the sectarian violence that has engulfed the Middle Eastern nation.
"I heard somebody say, Where's Mandela?' Well, Mandela's dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas," Bush, who has a reputation for verbal faux pas, said in a press conference in Washington on Thursday."
Nelson Mandela has since gone on record saying that reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated.

They disgust me. They refused the invitation to the LOGO debate. I don't know what they think they're going to do when white people officially become the minority in this country, which isn't too far away. Assholes. Cowards.
I'm not surprised. They've been cultivating the racist vote for years - AKA The Southern Strategy.
And Cowbell is correct - wait until the US becomes a minority majority country. I'm going to laugh.......
Of course, they'll still try and beat-up GLBT people of course.
It's only September 2007. The mudslinging hasn't started yet. Whatever happens now is babycakes compared to the nastiness down the road. Watch and see.
...but we are really surprised... are we?
